Throw Revolution X Spinworkx Trick Tutorials #13 - Slack Trapeze

Throw Revolution, together with us, will be releasing a set of 20 Trick Tutorials to get players, new or old, honed in for freestyles. This set of tricks to come include various modern elements that is worth a learn to rack up points during contests.

The trick-set for these trick tutorials was thought up by 2011 World Yo-Yo Champion, Marcus Koh, and the elements in these short tricks are still used by Marcus in his contest freestyles.

For the thirteenth trick in the Trick Tutorials line-up, we have a classic string trick from the early 2000s. Presenting to you, the one-and-only, Slack Trapeze! The Slack Trapeze was a really popular trick back when slacks were just starting to get popular. One player who used the slack trapeze in his freestyle to win the US National contest is none other than legendary player, Jason Lee.

This trick is relatively easy to pull off. First throw a Breakaway and hold the yo-yo string about 1-2 inches above the spinning yo-yo. Next, wrap the 'slacked' string around your throw hand index finger. When you are ready to perform the Slack Trapeze, throw that string that is wrapped around your index finger over your non-throwing hand and 'slack' that string segment into the yo-yo. Just when the slack hits the yo-yo and enters the string gap, release the pinch on your non-throw hand and you have just performed the Slack Trapeze.

When learning this trick, take your time to get the slack right and make sure the yo-yo enters the front of the slack (not the back).

This is a fun trick to do, and was one of the important compulsory tricks back in the day.

As always if you have any questions, you can hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, drop us an email, or come down and ask us (or the Throw Revolution team) on how to perfect this (or any other) trick!

Have fun practicing, and keep spinning!
