SHOWCASE Vol.7 (26 April 2015)

SHOWCASE Vol.7 is the next contest up and it is the final SHOWCASE before the big AP/SYYC contest. This is going to be a great opportunity to practice your freestyles in preparation for the up-coming competitions.

What:  SHOWCASE Vol.7
When: 26 April 2015 (Sunday)
Time:  6pm - 9.30pm
Where: Recognize Studios at Orchard Central
Who: Absolutely anybody can take part

There will be 2 regular events for SHOWCASE Vol.7 and they are the freestyle divisions, namely the 1A Division and the combined X Division but both divisions will have 1 minute and 3 minute freestyles like a mini-SYYC.

SHOWCASE Vol 7. registration deadline is 23 April 2015.

Take note! For SHOWCASE Vol.7, the rules are going to be just like SYYC. All competitors will need to do a 1 minute freestyle and only the top % of each Division will get to do a 3 minute freetyle. The judging criteria is the exact same scoring as AP/SYYC.

We are excited to see everyone come together and throwdown before the big one in June. As always, at SHOWCASE, Spinners will be able to show-off their banging tricks, mind-boggling combos and essentially get to showcase all the cool tricks they've got.

We are requesting for community-based volunteers to judge at the event. WE NEED YOU!

This benefits the volunteers as they get to learn how to judge AND they get to learn how to improve on their own freestyles by understanding how freestyles are clicked and scored. (If you wish to volunteer as a judge, fill in the registration form as well).

APYOYO2014 Clip #5 - Wabisabi

This time around, we are featuring Clip #5 from the Asia Pacific Yo-Yo Championships 2014. This clip features various competitors having their offstring yo-yo fall/drop-off/fly away. It may seem odd, but the significance of this video is to show you that no matter how many mistakes you make, keep going, keep improving and strive to do better than your mistakes made. Don't give up and you will eventually achieve your goals!

The series of videos were done by local video/film producer Eric Lee (Ratchild Lee Fur Fur), formerly with Nylon doing their online videos. It is interesting to see these videos being made as it comes from someone who has no prior background of what to expect from a yo-yo event, let alone modern yo-yo tricks.

Till the next video, enjoy!
