Volunteers needed for SYYC *Updated!*

Dear all,
After the recent competitions organised by us, we realised that it is not a sustainable solution based on the small group of consistent volunteers that we have. Hence, we are trying to implement a new solution and hopefully this will help the local spinning scene in the long run.

SYYC 2010 (Singapore Yo-yo Championships) is scheduled to be on the 12 and 13th June 2010. It is still two months away so there should be sufficient time for us to pull off this new system.

Basically we are going to call off the competition unless we have sufficient volunteers to fill up the roles required for the event.

These are the positions and the number of people that we need:

Stage Coordinator     - 1

Ensure that the event is running according to schedule. Ensuring the proper setup is in place. Works concurrently with Emcee but you don't need to sing or announce anything to the public.

Emcee                       - 1

The role of the Emcee is to facilitate the event and establish rapport of the audience.

Emcee Runner           - 2

Assist the emcee with errands. Example: search for missing participants, etc.

Music Coordinator    - 2

Control the sequence of the music freestyles, press play and pause of music track. Music will be control via quicktime or itunes.

Logistics                   - 2

Help setup and tear down of the venue.

Welfare                     - 1

Ensure the volunteers are well hydrated and run errands to pick up meals.

Registration              - 2

Collection of registration fees and administrative details.

Videographer           - 1

Film freestyle sequences of event. Need to know how to operate video camera.

Minimum age limit - 14

We sincerely hope that this new system will help spread the workload and make the competition another success. Our ideal is to get everyone involved in the competition in one way or another. We don't necessarily need to compete to win to be able to enjoy spinning. There are many alternative ways for us to share our passion for yoyos. Some say most can't be bothered to help out. I rather choose to believe that you don't know how you can help so this are new avenues.

Even if you are competing, you can still be a volunteer! Just find another partner who can take turns with you.

The deadline for this volunteers recruitment is 18th April 2010. After which, we will discuss to see whether we will proceed with the competition.
